Never attended his funeral. In 1994, Elizabeth married her boyfriend of 9 years, local Beatty postman Ken Duncan. Ken’s two kids, Irene and Sidney welcomed Elizabeth warmly into their family. Thankfully, her children didn’t let their mother fall through any crack, all 6 staying by her side. Marilyn and Barbara soon offered their mother the opportunity to move up to New Buildaux and at least give it a 6 month trial. Elizabeth was stubborn and eager to stay where her home had been for so many decades. However, Elizabeth agreed reluctantly as she was having reminders from when she first moved to Nevada and how much she missed her family. So with that, Elizabeth arrived in New Buildaux once again. After the 6 month trial, Marilyn and Barbara were very unsure that their mother would stay put in town. However, much to their surprise, their mother was very eager to stay and happily announced that she’d be moving in with Barbara, which of course was only just sprung on her. Randy and Liz first met in a Kentucky gym, where their romance blossomed and turned into matrimony.By 1985, the married couple had made their way to the WWF, and Miss Elizabeth was now a prominent part of the “Macho Man” storyline. Thing was Elizabeth played fan favorite to Randy’s chauvinistic villain. You could see it in fan posters like “ELIZABETH IS MORE MACHO THAN RANDY” and “NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY.”Fans couldn’t get enough of her. She was the epitome of the Southern belle–classy as classy can be, charming and elegant. No wonder she was called the First Lady of Wrestling. I had such a crush on her, growing up, I hated the way Macho Man Savage treated her. But that was the point, right? That was the genius behind Vince McMahon’s storyline.Fans hated Macho Man’s caveman treatment of Elizabeth so much he became the ultimate villain. The jealousy and outright abusiveness Macho Man displayed toward Elizabeth riled-up the fans as much as anything else the Macho Man could do to egg them on. But how much of this gimmick was actually real? Wasn’t this just a case of art imitating life?
